Kyle was born in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1974. Inspired largely by Disney movies, Star Wars, and Saturday morning cartoons, he began drawing at an early age. After graduating from High School, Kyle attended college at the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, where he was introduced to the work of classic illustrators such as Norman Rockwell, J.C. Leyendecker, Alphonse Mucha, and Maxfield Parrish, as well as contemporary illustrators such as Scott Gustafson, Peter DeSeve, James Christiensen, C.F. Payne, Mark Summers, and Michael Whelan. Soon after graduating with a BFA in 1997, he began illustrating professionally.
Kyle has illustrated for the medical, editorial, stationery, electronic, and print industries. He is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and delights in making people smile with his whimsical images and characters. Although his first love is pencil, he completes his illustration with watercolor and pen and ink, or digitally.
T. Kyle Gentry currently lives in Winter Park, Florida with his wife Katie and their cat Seuss. See more of Kyle's work on his personal website.
