STEP 2 Line up grandfather's bi-focal glasses with the bottom edge of the paper bag, as shown.
STEP 3 Attach this upper part of grandfather's face to the bag. Put tape loops or glue under the face in the positions shown by the arrows.
STEP 4 Slide the picture of grandfather's open mouth under the flap of the bag and under the upper part of his face, and line up the two parts to match. Tape or glue the part under the flap of the bag, as shown.
STEP 5 a) Cut a piece of blue paper to cover the front of the bag, and tape or glue it in place. b) Cut two strips of red paper for the suspenders, and tape or glue them in place. c) To make buttons, lay a penny on the white scrap saved from Step 1. Outline it with the pencil. Make two buttons. d) Cut out the circles and draw four dots on each. e) Draw a line from grandfather's chin to the bottom of the shirt, and glue the buttons on the line. f) Use red, pink, and skin-color crayons to color grandfather's face.

How to work the puppet: Slide your hand into the bag and curl your fingers into the folded section. Open and shut your fingers to make grandfather talk.
STEP 1 Click on the images on the left to open them each in a separate window. Then print them out full size. Cut out both drawings, cutting just inside the dotted lines. (The chin on the closed-mouth grandfather will not be used.) Save the scrap white paper for Step 5.
